The Da Costa is an absolutely charming houseboat, with very good standards and excellent location.
It's a great vacation rental for your family, couples or business trip. Expats looking for a an accommodation in Amsterdam will find this houseboat very convenient too. The canal where this houseboat is located, unlike many others in the city, is very quiet indeed, so you have a good night sleep guaranteed.
The Da Costa Houseboat has a large living room, fully equipped kitchen and dining area - all modern and beautifully finished. Just off the living room is the sleeping area or bedroom: it has no door to the living, so if you travel with friends it is not totally private. Just off the bedroom you step onto the terrace and the perfect place to relax, with a sundowner and watch the boats and life go by.
The bathroom is very large and feels very relaxing: it has a bathtub as well as a shower cubicle.
Located on the edge of the canal ring and on a quieter canal you are still only 30 minutes walk to Dam Square (or a few tram stops), 20 minutes to the museum quarter (Museumplein) and just 10 minutes from the very trendy Nine Streets, Leidseplein and the popular Vondelpark. Read the area description here below for more details.
Staying on a houseboat gives you much more freedom than a hotel room or an apartment, but the people living around the boat are not on vacation, so please respect not only the boat, but also its neighbors.
Smoking is only pleasant for the smoker, so please only smoke outside on the terrace.
Map of location
You'll be staying right in the middle of the 19th century district Amsterdam Old West.
This neighborhood is an up-and-coming trendy area of Amsterdam (some people refer to the area as 'gold west'). There are so many good (coffee) shops, bars and restaurants that you will find yourself staying in this part of the town more than you had expected.
The main street of this neighborhood is called Kinkerstraat, which is actually an extension of the Elandsgracht in The Jordaan. The Kinkerstraat is a long shopping street, where you'll also find the Ten Kate Market. This is a cozy Amsterdam market. For all kinds of products such as flowers, cheese, wine, baby items, clothing, vegetables, fruit, etc. The shops in the market behind the stables are strongly represented with various products too. Cafés, clothing, furniture, sewing kit, beds, strollers, etc. You can find it all there.
Very closeby you'll find also De Hallen Amsterdam: an official monument built between 1902 and 1928, which is nowadays a centre for media, culture, fashion, food and crafts. This building is where once the first electric trams in Amsterdam were serviced, and now it has been granted a new life.
The area is quite residential, yet touristic, and you will be at walking distance to the well-known attractions of Amsterdam, like The Jordaan, Leidseplein, Vondelpark and the canal belt.
Leidseplein - with all its shopping, cafés and theaters - is only 10 minutes walking. The Museum Square (The Rijksmuseum, Stedelijk Museum and Van Gogh Museum), the Flower Market, the Jordaan, the beautiful Vondelpark (the biggest park in the centre of Amsterdam) and many other highlights are also reachable on foot.
Theaters, shopping, restaurants, cafés and coffee shops are countless in all directions you walk. There is a lot to explore. But if you want to go to further areas you can always get one of our trams just a minute from your house.
Or maybe you should try to enjoy the city by bicycle: it's a lot of fun!
- 180 x 200 cm double bedroom (open to the living, thus no privacy if there are other guests sleeping in the living)
- Double sofa-bed in the living
